Sea Anemone

All mouth and waving arms,
deadly venom hidden
in blowsy floral beauty.
Unable to move,
stuck to the same rock forever,
or stowed away on a crab,
protection in exchange
for scraps.
Another floats,
Broken against the coral,
each piece grows into a new animal,
all mouth and waving arms.
You will think this is a metaphor.
